Pre-School

It's amazing how time passes so quickly, each day seems to go faster and faster.  Last week our daughter started pre-school.  It seems just like yesterday we were flying home from Guatemala to bring her home.

My heart is blessed as I watch each of our children change from their 'baby' look to a child 'look', how they grow in the knowledge of Jesus, and their sense of who they are is developing...

My prayer for them is simple, that they come to know Christ as their Savior at an early age and that God will bless them spiritually, emotionally, financially and physically.

May God bless you!

Well, We Told Them

There are many wonderful things and challenging things that go along with being an adoptive family.

We did a lot of research about how to talk to our children about our 'extended' family BEFORE we ever knew we had a child!  It helped prepare us for this moment.

Our precious children have always known they were adopted - we never kept it a secret and of course we never could have since all 5 of us have different skin color.  We are truly a multi-racial family!  We think we're really blessed in this fact as all of us bring different experiences and talents to our family!

One thing I found out recently is that one of our children has brothers and sisters. I'm not sure how many, maybe one brother and one sister or more through his biological parents.  Honestly, it's weighed on my heart.  One thing I've read is that it's easier for children to deal with this information than to spring it on them when they're older.  But coming up with the subject wasn't easy to do - I never want my children to hurt and I know this would make my child feel excited and hurt all at once.  This particular child internalizes everything and I wanted to help them understand that we were so excited about this and hopefully one day we could meet them and one thing our child needed to realize was that they were loved!

Last night, the opportunity arose and we told our child.

Excitement and sorrow then total lack of interest in talking about this was their reaction!

In fact our children wanted to see pictures we recently took of them playing in the snow.  Later our deep thinker child wanted me to hold and sing the song I wrote for them when they were a baby.

Dealing with adoption topics is not always easy and I've learned that I've just got to 'be there' as our kids go through the joys and sorrows that go along with this.

May God bless you today and as you think of our children, please pray for them that they will know that they are loved and cherished by our family around the world who think they are great!

Snow Days, Friends, and Hot Cocoa

Brrr...

It seems like everyone this weekend was talking about how cold it is where they live, including here!  Thursday, the children got to leave school early for a "snow day" and Friday they had off from school because of the very cold weather!

It has been such a delight having them home for a long weekend!  We really want to cherish our time with our children, because they will be grown and off on their own before we know it - it's amazing how time flies when one has children...

So this weekend, we've enjoyed being together, having friends over to enjoy playing in the snow with our sleds and snow boards, we baked endless amounts of chocolate chip cookies and drank cup after cup of hot cocoa!

Hope you all are staying warm and enjoying the extra family time!

Thank you for your Prayers!

Prayer changes things!

(Here's a cute photo to bring a smile to your face!)
Thank you so much for your prayers!  God has been gracious!  We met my doctor yesterday and received mostly good news!

First he said my bones are 'beautiful'!  LoL  I take that as a compliment since this doctor is so serious, my hubby and I feel that this meant he was being sincere. =-)

Second, they did find lots of cysts/endemetriosis - we already figured this, but didn't realize it could cause pain.

Third, I got diagnosed with 2 more types of arthritis (no smart comments now)! LoL

One of the arthritis causes pain and inflammation throughout my joints and muscles so the doctor gave me two shots to my back and wow - I'm already seeing a huge improvement!  Praise the Lord!

I'm going to be going to PT, so it will be interesting to see what happens there.

Well, that's the update - hope you are doing well and having a wonderful year so far!

Like a Deer in the Headlights

Sooo, here I am at 12:30 in the morning updating our blog...

Why you may ask,

Well tomorrow, I have to go get some futher testing to find out what "interesting" thing was picked up on a recent mri...

Honestly, I'm a wee bit nervous.

Knowing that God is in contol of our lives is so comforting and I have to believe and trust that whatever they are going to find tomorrow will be benign or maybe a shadow.

As nervous as I have been, the Lord opened the gumption in me to go forward with this testing - this happened when I fell again on Sunday morning.

We are really hoping that these findings will help us and my doctor's understand why I'm falling approximately every 2 to 3 weeks.

As God puts my family and me on your mind, I would appreciate your prayers, especially for my precious husband and children. My hearts desire is to the be the wife and mother they need me to be --- soon! =-)

May God bless you and your family as you start this wonderful year of 2010!
